Teen rapper Lil Tay’s mother hinted at a potential comeback for the young influencer after she claimed to have emerged victorious in a custody battle.
Court battle win: Angela Tian’s legal team told TMZ that Tay’s father, Christopher Hope, had been ordered by the court to pay approximately $275,000 in child support backpay spanning back to 2014.
Tian has also reportedly been granted sole decision-making authority and primary custody of the 14-year-old online personality. The court also purportedly granted authorization for Tian to relocate with Tay outside of Vancouver if she decides to do so.
What’s next for Tay: Tian claimed that the prolonged custody battle, marked by differing visions for Tay’s career, has taken a toll on her and her daughter.
“We have won our case in court and my children and I can finally move on from this nightmare,” Tian was quoted saying. “My daughter can pursue and achieve her dreams on her own terms, and we are finally a happy family again, together.”
Short-lived death: Tian’s comments come following a purported “death hoax,” which Tay’s camp has attributed to a hack by a third party on her Instagram account. While Tay’s former manager, Harry Tsang, expressed skepticism against this claim, Meta has since confirmed the hack and assisted in recovering the breached Instagram account.
Speculation about Tay’s potential future endeavors has since emerged amid her return to the spotlight. The viability of a Lil Tay comeback remains to be seen as the landscape of viral content has evolved since her initial rise to fame in 2018.
