Korean Army Can’t Handle The Massive Amount of Fan Mail for G-Dragon
By Carl Samson
The Korean army is currently overwhelmed by massive fan mail sent to BIGBANG leader G-Dragon, who
In a statement published on March 10, G-Dragon’s label, YG Entertainment, described that the K-pop star’s training center has been receiving “excessive” fan mail.
“G-Dragon is in a difficult position within his military unit as the amount of incoming mail from fans is excessive,” The Korea Herald quoted YG as saying.
G-Dragon, formally Kwon Ji Young, joined the 3rd Infantry Division Recruit Training Center, also known as the “White Skull,” in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, on Feb. 27.
While every email sent to the unit is required to be printed and handed out to the receiving soldier, G-Dragon is simply getting too much that the office’s printer could run out of ink and paper soon.
Consequently, letters for other soldiers could also be affected. Office work has reportedly been slowing down as well.
“G-Dragon feels sorry to fellow training soldiers and also to his fans, as he cannot possibly read all of the letters,” YG said in its notice.
G-Dragon is scheduled to spend five weeks in the unit for basic training, and he will serve until Nov. 26, 2019.
After his enlistment, fellow BIGBANG members Taeyang and Daesung followed on March 12 and 13, respectively.
