Liu’s Facebook Rant: Liu blasted “Kim’s Convenience” producers after the final season was released on Netflix on June 2.

Liu started off the post, which was shared on his personal Facebook page and Subtle Asian Traits, by saying the show can’t be “saved” and that it wasn’t “canceled in a traditional manner.”
He revealed that he was “resentful” of the spinoff show because of all the “circumstances that led to the one non-Asian character getting her own show.”
Liu said he became “frustrated” with the way his character was being portrayed and how he was being treated by the “overwhelmingly white” producers.
“Our writer’s room lacked both East Asian and female representation, and also lacked a pipeline to introduce diverse talents,” Liu wrote. “Aside from Ins, there were no other Korean voices in the room. And personally I do not think he did enough to be a champion for those voices Including ours.”

About the show: “Kim’s Convenience” is a Canadian sitcom that premiered on CBC Television in October 2016.

The show follows a Korean Canadian family that owns a convenience store in Toronto.
The final episode premiered on April 13, 2021, and was canceled after five seasons.
Liu stated on Twitter that he was “angry” about the show’s ending. He previously tweeted that he hoped to produce a sixth season of the series but was “unsuccessful.”
