Actor and comedian Ken Jeong recently donated $50,000 to the families of five Asian victims who died during last week’s spa shootings in Atlanta.
The 51-year-old celebrity made five donations — each worth $10,000 — to the GoFundMe campaigns for the victims’ families, according to NBC.
Jeong took to Twitter to share some of the fundraising campaigns. He also tweeted a video on Friday featuring himself and other Asian American actors such as Lou Diamond Phillips and Keiko Agena, the New York Post reports.
“Stop the pandemic of hate,” Jeong urges in the video.
Jeong, whose parents are South Korean, also appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Monday to talk about the increase in anti-Asian attacks across the country.
He commended one of the show’s writers, Karen Chee, after she was featured in a segment that addressed the Atlanta shootings, The Independent reports.
“It was very moving,” Jeong said about the segment. “It’s just a sign that with the Asian American community, enough is enough. We’re just fed up… in this particular crime, there’s debate whether this crime is racially motivated.”
“Asian-American women are two times as likely to be assaulted in America,” he added. “This was clearly, clearly racially motivated. This was clearly a hate crime.”
