Ke Huy Quan has been tapped to play a lead role in the action movie “With Love” from Universal Studios, which will serve as his first feature role since the success of A24’s “Everything Everywhere All At Once.”
About the project: Although details for “With Love” are still being kept under wraps, the film will reportedly feature an original script penned by Josh Stoddard (“Warrior”) and Matthew Murray, according to Deadline.
Filipino American stunt coordinator Jonathan Eusebio, who worked on “John Wick” and “The Matrix Resurrections,” will be directing the movie. “With Love” will serve as Eusebio’s theatrical feature debut.
Behind-the-scenes: The new action film will be produced by David Leitch (“The Fall Guy” and “Bullet Train”) and Kelly McCormick through 87North. Universal’s executive vice president of production development, Jay Polidoro, and director of production development, Tony Ducret, will also reportedly oversee the production.
Catching up: Quan, 52, has appeared in a few TV projects following the success of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s 2022 genre-bending “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” for which he won an Oscar for best supporting actor. He then starred in Disney Plus’ “American Born Chinese” and “Loki” Season 2.
Quan was also tapped for a role in “Kung Fu Panda 4.” Joining him in the animated film are Awkwafina and Viola Davis as the newly added cast. He is also set to appear in the Russo brothers-directed sci-fi adventure film “The Electric State” in 2024.
