Jay Park launches his Korean liquor brand in the US
Korean American rapper and singer Jay Park recently launched his Korean liquor brand, Won Soju, in the U.S.
Won Soju launch event: After its successful debut in South Korea last year, the premium soju brand has made its way to the U.S., most notably in California, where over 100 restaurants and stores in the state carry Won Soju.
On Sunday, Park, 36, held an exclusive event at Intercrew in Los Angeles to celebrate Won Soju’s U.S. launch. At the launch party, Park performed his hit songs such as “MOMMAE” and “All I Wanna Do.”
“Won Soju and I look to spearhead the K-liquor culture in the U.S. and eventually globally,” Park said in a press release. “We are excited to bring the traditional all natural premium ‘soju’ to the new audience around the world.”
About the soju: Park aims to introduce his traditional-style soju to the American market, which is dominated by factory-made “industrial” soju. He noted that the longer and slower process of producing traditional soju results in a smoother drink that is higher in alcohol content.
“It’s premium soju distilled [with] ingredients straight from Korea,” said Park, according to the LAist. “It’s just water, yeast, and the finest rice from Wonju. That’s what makes it special.”
Park believes there is ample opportunity in the new market and is confident in the uniqueness of his product.
