Warner Bros. recently announced the release date of the Jason Momoa-led film “Minecraft,” as well as the new release date of DC Studios’ “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
The live-action “Minecraft” movie, which was first announced in 2014, will be directed by Jared Hess (“Napoleon Dynamite,” “Nacho Libre”).
“Minecraft” will hit cinemas on April 4, 2025.
Meanwhile, DC Studios’ James Wan-directed film “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” the sequel to the hit 2018 superhero film “Aquaman,” will now be released on Dec. 20.
The highly anticipated movie’s initial release date was Christmas Day this year.
Its cast includes Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Kidman, Randall Park and Jani Zhao.
Warner Bros. decided to swap the film’s release date with that of “The Color Purple,” the upcoming musical period drama film based on Alice Walker’s 1982 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name.
