Jamie Lee Curtis kisses Michelle Yeoh after SAG Award win
Jamie Lee Curtis has gone viral for planting a kiss on Michelle Yeoh’s lips after winning a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award.
On Sunday, “Everything Everywhere All at Once” became the most awarded film in SAG history with four wins: Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture; Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role (Yeoh); Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role (Ke Huy Quan); and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role (Curtis). Stephanie Hsu was also nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role.
After finding out about her SAG win, Curtis, 64, was filmed saying “Oh, shut up!” before kissing Yeoh, 60, on the lips.
She recently shared a video of the kiss on Twitter. As of this writing, her tweet has garnered over 128,000 views.
During her acceptance speech, Curtis praised Yeoh and again cited her as the reason she signed up to join the A24 film in the first place. She then got the audience to chant Yeoh’s name.
“Where is Michelle Yeoh?” she asked the audience. “I say, ‘Michelle.’ You say, ‘Yeoh!’… Michelle Yeoh, I love you, I love you, I love you!”
“I kissed her? Did I really?” Curtis said. “Well, I love Michelle Yeoh. I mean, we love each other.”
She then jokingly mentioned her and Yeoh’s spouses, saying, “[Although] she’s married, I met her husband in England. He’s lovely. I also have a husband.”
This is not the first time Curtis has gone viral this awards season. Last month, all eyes were on Curtis and her excited reaction to Yeoh’s Golden Globe win which eventually became a meme-ified shirt.
