Jackson Wang enchants as the ‘MAGIC MAN’ in sophomore album
Soloist Jackson Wang has released his highly anticipated album “MAGIC MAN” and an accompanying new music video, “Blue.”
The GOT7 member’s sophomore album is made up of 10 tracks. “Blue,” which Wang debuted live last month during the 2022 K-pop Masterz in Manila concert, marks the third song from the album to receive a music video following “Blow” and “Cruel.” Other songs such as “Champagne Cool,” “Go Ghost,” “Drive It Like You Stole It” and “Come Alive” were co-written by Wang.
A press release for “MAGIC MAN” described it as ’70s rock-inspired and gritty: “MAGIC MAN finds Jackson at his most vulnerable – operating under the laws of mystery, temptation and confusion.”
Speaking about the new project, Wang himself said, “MAGIC MAN is the ultimate form of oneself, having gone through different peaks and valleys of life to arrive at the most authentic version. Everyone is able to become their own form of MAGIC MAN.”
“MAGIC MAN” follows up Wang’s mixtape “LOST & FOUND,” which released in March. His first solo album was 2019’s “MIRRORS.”
Beyond the work put in for the album, Wang has run a gauntlet of live performances this year, from a duet performance with Thai rapper Milli, Coachella and most recently 88rising’s Head In The Clouds festival last month, where Wang joined a lineup of artists like BIBI, Rich Brian, CHUNG HA, Joji and Jay Park. An actual “magic man,” magician Kevin Li left Wang spellbound with a trick of his own during the event as well.
In May, Wang and his fellow GOT7 members released their comeback self-titled EP “Nanana,” their first music project since departing from JYP Entertainment last year.
