Jackie Chan Says ‘Rush Hour 4’ is Happening, But On One Condition

That is, of course, if Chris Tucker is cool with it.

“The script probably at the end of this month will have a second draft and next year, [we’ll] probably start,” Chan said. “If… Chris Tucker agrees.”

It turns out that “Rush Hour 4” has been on the table for quite some time, but the pair have repeatedly turned down scripts that weren’t to their liking.

“For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script,” he explained in an interview with Power 106’s “The Cruz Show”. “Yesterday, we just agreed.”

Chan stressed that Tucker’s current silence on the matter doesn’t signal that he’s holding out for an exorbitant amount of money or another ridiculous request. “It’s not about money! It’s about [having the] time to make. Otherwise, ‘Rush Hour 4’ we’re all old men. I tell Chris Tucker, ‘Before we get old, please do Rush Hour 4.'”

Tucker has confirmed in a previous interview that the beloved buddy cops have indeed been discussing the installation for some time.

“Rush Hour 4, we’re looking into it, me and Jackie [Chan]. We’re trying to get it going, so we’re developing something, so hopefully we’ll get something in,” he said. “We really want to take it back to the first one, the realness of it, and explore my character a bit more. Everyone wants to do sequels, though.”

The first “Rush Hour” was released in 1998, with “Rush Hour 2” following three years later in 2001. “Rush Hour 3” hit theaters in 2007, but did not achieve the same success that the first two films enjoyed.
