International action star Jackie Chan has announced a new album which he intends to release in August.
The Chinese actor revealed his plans on Sunday via his Instagram page, noting that the yet untitled album will be produced for his loved ones.
“It’s been 16 years since my last album,” Chan wrote. “I’ll be releasing a new album in August this year, dedicated to my friends who have passed away, my wife, my son, and my brothers.”
While the 63-year-old martial arts icon has been widely known in the west for his acrobatic fighting style in movies, he once had a successful singing career in Asia. Since 1984, Chan has released 20 albums in Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Taiwanese, and English. Chan notably performed the song “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” for the Chinese release of the Walt Disney animated feature “Mulan” in 1998.
Chan’s singing career would eventually take a backseat to his acting career after his Hollywood films exploded in popularity.
His recent announcement of returning to music delighted many of his followers, with some expressing hope that the artist would make the album available everywhere.
