South Korean rapper J-Hope recently announced his solo album “Jack in the Box,” the first solo debut of a BTS member after the announcement of their group break earlier this month.
On June 26, Big Hit Music announced the release of the upcoming album, stating:
“We would like to announce the release of ‘Jack in the Box,’ J-Hope’s solo album… J-Hope will be the first member of BTS to start this new journey and release his solo album. J-Hope’s solo album, as expressed in the title of the album ‘Jack In The Box,’ represents his aspirations to break the mold and grow further.”
The official teaser for the solo album was shared on Big Hit Music’s Twitter and J-Hope’s personal Instagram account, among other social media platforms.
Promotional and concept photos were also revealed over the weekend.
The full album will be released two weeks after the pre-release track, titled “More.” Unlike previous solo work, “Jack in the Box” will be available in both physical and digital formats. Pre-orders will be available online and in-person starting on June 27.
The solo album reveal comes after BTS announced their temporary group break to focus on personal endeavors and “explore some solo projects.” The sentiment was echoed once more in Big Hit Music’s official statement, which explained, “BTS has turned the page on their new chapter, throughout which the members will harmoniously carry out their group and individual activities.”
Earlier this month, J-Hope was announced as Lollapalooza’s headliner, becoming the first South Korean artist to headline the event.
“More” will be released on July 1 at 1 p.m. KST. Fans can look forward to “Jack in the Box” in its entirety starting on July 15 at 1 p.m. KST.
