Fans of YouTuber IShowSpeed gather outside Tokyo hospital to show support amid his illness
Fans of 18-year-old YouTuber IShowSpeed gathered outside a hospital in Tokyo to show support amid his ongoing illness.
About his illness: Darren Watkins Jr., better known as IShowSpeed, was rushed to the hospital last weekend after suffering a “deadly” headache and a swollen eye. Watkins was diagnosed with cluster headaches from an intense sinus infection. It was later revealed that he could have lost his eye if he had not received immediate medical attention.
“Right now, I have one of the worst experiences I am having right now. I can’t even open up my eyes. I have this thing called a cluster headache. A deadly headache disease. I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, I can’t do anything right now,” Watkins previously told his fans, according to Indy100.
In his latest update, the YouTuber expressed his longing to come back home to America. He noted that he may be hospitalized for “weeks or months” due to his condition. Watkins, who looks forward to seeing his family and streaming content, said that he will be focusing on resting in the meantime.
IShowSpeed fans: Watkins’ fans were quick to remind him that he is not alone in his medical battle. In a recent video, fans can be seen outside the hospital chanting “IShowSpeed” in support and singing his “World Cup” song, which he performed at the Rolling Loud music festival in early July.
About IShowSpeed: Watkins, who boasts over 19 million subscribers on YouTube, became one of the platform’s most-watched streamers in 2022. He is known for his livestreams in which he primarily plays video games.
Last year, Watkins publicly apologized after he was accused of racism for repeatedly yelling “konnichiwa” at a Chinese man because he “thought he was Japanese” at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
