Master Ip arrives in 1964 San Francisco in the latest trailer for the final film “Ip Man 4: The Finale.”
The film will be the last installment in the “Ip Man” saga in which 56-year-old actor Donnie Yen played the role of Master Ip, a teacher and practitioner of Wing Chun Kung Fu and the master of legendary martial artist Bruce Lee.

“Donnie Yen reprises his role as the legendary Wing Chun master in the grand finale of the revolutionary martial arts series,” the synopsis reads. “Following the death of his wife, Ip Man travels to San Francisco to ease tensions between the local kung fu masters and his star student, Bruce Lee, while searching for a better future for his son.”
Directed by Wilson Yip and written by Hiroshi Fukazawa, “Ip Man 4: The Finale” stars Danny Chan as Bruce Lee, with British actor Scott Adkins playing Barton Geddes, an American soldier and fighter.
Taiwanese American actor and singer, Vanness Wu, will also play a part in the movie as well as Chris Collins and Chinese actor Wu Yue.
“Ip Man 4: The Finale” will not only be a great send-off for the character of legend, but it will also be Yen’s final kung fu movie.
Yen told South China Morning Post at the 2019 China (Foshan) Greater Bay Area Kung Fu Film Festival that he has already accomplished so much with 78 movies in total.
“I did my best every time as I love movies … People might view actors as filled with glory, but we, especially those of us who make action and kung fu movies, have a very harsh life,” he said. “Our bodies are filled with injuries and pain.”
“I love each [of my] movies, but [I feel] I have already made [all the] breakthroughs [I can] in the kung fu movie genre. For Ip Man 4 to be my swansong work, it’s a very good ending.”
However, he clarified that he is not retiring and that he would still be making movies in the future.
“I didn’t say I’m retiring. I still have lots of passion. For kung fu movies, I will participate as a director or producer,” Yen said. “I hope my movies will make the audience more passionate about kung fu culture.”
Yen is set to appear in the action-comedy “Enter the Fat Dragon” in Jan. 23 and in Disney’s live-action adaptation “Mulan” in March 2020.
“Ip Man 4: The Finale” is set to hit theaters on Dec. 25.
