What happened: Evan Manivong, a sophomore at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, tucked a white card into his jersey during an Illinois meet against Minnesota on March 22, according to the Chicago Tribune.
- While celebrating his stuck vault landing, Manivong proudly showed the mysterious card to his audience.
- He tweeted about this “flex” later on, explaining that it was his vaccination card.
- “It’s my vaccination card… go get vaccinated everyone!” Manivong wrote.
Going viral: Two weeks later, a video of Manivong whipping out his vaccination card went viral, according to The Daily Illini.
- As of this writing, the video has received more than 3.7 million views on Twitter.
- Various social media users tweeted words of support and praised the Illinois gymnast.
