How Youtube Built a 1-Billion Monthly Viewer Empire

Today, Youtube receives over 1 billion unique visitors every month — consider that fact while keeping in mind that the entire world has 7 billion people currently living on it.
Right.
Most impressively, that ubiquity was built in only 10 years’ time. (Isn’t the realization that the site was founded in only as recently as 2005 surprising every time? It seems like it’s been around for-ever.) It’s those sort of mind-boggling numbers that serve as a testament to just how good Google’s marketing of their video platform — no matter whether it’s truly a media godsend or just a “giant garbage can” of user-generated content — has been. Of course, it’s the video-making and social media efforts of Youtube’s most popular creators that have most undeniably bolstered the site’s profile. And they get paid handsomely for it — one of Youtube’s highest earning stars, DC Toys Collector, made an estimated $5 million last year.
