Houston opens first Filipino supermarket Seafood City
Seafood City, a popular Filipino supermarket chain in North America, recently opened its first Texas outpost in Houston.
The grand opening: Situated near the First Colony Commons shopping center, the store, located in Sugar Land city, opened on Dec. 14. Seafood City, which integrates grocery and restaurant concepts, is currently offering a grand opening sale on selected grocery items until Dec. 20.
The grand opening was celebrated by the Filipino community, attracting customers from various parts of Houston, with some driving about an hour to explore the store, according to Chron.
About Seafood City: The supermarket chain provides ready-to-eat and ready-to-heat meals, fast-food eateries, as well as canned goods, fresh meat, seafood and produce sourced directly from suppliers in the Philippines. The store features popular Filipino food and products such as banana ketchup, chicharon, bagnet, lumpia and ube pastries. It also includes a bakery and Grill City, a food court offering grilled meats and traditional Filipino dishes.
