Female Trainee Who Vaped Marijuana With BIGBANG Star REVEALED
K-pop fans erupted yesterday following reports of BIGBANG member T.O.P. getting charged for using marijuana, a banned substance in South Korea.
The reports noted that T.O.P had consumed the substance through a vape pen on multiple occasions with a female friend and K-pop trainee at his home in Seoul. Earlier today, that trainee was revealed to be Han Seo Hee, a former contestant on the reality show “Birth of a Great Star 3” in 2012.
Although Han failed to make the top 12 in the competition, she received several offers from entertainment agencies. She was eventually signed with Jellyfish Entertainment in June 2015 and was allegedly set to debut with a girl group shortly after, but was released just one month after due to undisclosed “personal reasons”.
Jellyfish Entertainment released the following statement to news outlets on June 2 to distance themselves from Han and the drug scandal:
“Though Ms. Han was chosen as a trainee, her contract was terminated after one month due to personal reasons. We haven’t been in contact with her in 2 years, and we are in no way involved in this case.”
A police source later stated (via Soompi):
“It seems that [Han Seo Hee] started using marijuana due to the stress of a continuously postponed debut.”
Han was arrested in March 2017 for using marijuana. While she was questioned by police, she admitted to consuming liquid marijuana on three occasions after being supplied by a dealer. She also mentioned T.O.P’s name when asked who she was with, prompting police to investigate further. Eventually, they brought T.O.P. in for a hair follicle test and he tested positive for marijuana.
The fate of both Han Seo Hee and T.O.P. remains to be determined by prosecutors.
