‘Past Lives’ star Greta Lee joins cast of Disney’s ‘Tron: Ares’
“Past Lives” star Greta Lee has joined the cast of Disney’s “Tron: Ares.”
A new chapter in the “Tron” series: The third installment in the cyber tech adventure series brings together an ensemble cast that includes Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Jared Leto and Evan Peters. It will be directed by Joachim Rønning and features a script written by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne.
In “Tron: Ares,” Leto portrays Ares, a manifestation of a sentient program that crosses over from the video game world to the human world. Lee will portray a video game programmer and tech company CEO who becomes determined to protect her revolutionary technology.
Production is scheduled to begin in August, pending any potential SAG-AFTRA strike.
About “Tron”: The original “Tron” film was released by Disney in 1982 and featured Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, a video game creator trapped inside his own creation.
While the film did not achieve significant box office success, it gained a cult following in the VHS era. Disney attempted a reboot in 2010 with the return of Bridges in “Tron: Legacy,” but it fell short of box office expectations.
