Spend your gold nuggets on this $3,000 Susuwatari bag from Studio Ghibli x Loewe’s ‘Spirited Away’ collection

Spanish luxury fashion house Loewe and Studio Ghibli have collaborated to produce “Loewe x Spirited Away,” a collection pairing the whimsy of the Japanese animation studio with high fashion designs.
The collection, which was released on Jan. 7, has already proven to be greatly popular, with several designs having already sold out.
The pieces include small leather goods like wallets and coin purses, scarves and other textiles, ready-to-wear pieces including sweaters and jackets as well as the leather handbags for which the brand is best known. Prices for the items range from $222 for a candle up to $6,400 for an elaborately designed sweater.
The Loewe logo on the brand’s website has been updated to reflect the new collection, with the “o” in Loewe having been replaced by the long and somber visage of Kaonashi, or No Face, from the 2001 animated film. Other characters featured in the collection include the dust bunny sprites Susuwatari, which resemble fuzzy black pieces of soot, along with the fearsome Yubaba and protagonist Chihiro, among others.
The characters playfully appear on some of the design house’s most iconic pieces, painted on leather goods like the puzzle bag or embroidered onto sweatshirts bearing Loewe’s classic L logo. Other newer items were designed especially for the collection, such as a Susuwatari-shaped leather handbag retailing for just under $3,000 USD.
In January 2021, Studio Ghibli and Loewe collaborated previously to produce a Totoro-themed collection, which debuted to similarly high demand.
Below is a roundup of some of the most eye-catching looks:
