Ghibli Park has announced the opening date for its Valley of Witches attraction, an area based on Studio Ghibli movies such as “Kiki’s Delivery Service” and “Howl’s Moving Castle.”
About the area: The Valley of Witches will open on March 16, 2024, according to a press release. It will be Ghibli Park’s fifth and final area. Attractions include Howl’s Castle (from “Howl’s Moving Castle“), the Okino House (from “Kiki’s Delivery Service“) and the Witch’s House (from “Arya and the Witch”), to name a few. Rides include a themed merry-go-round and the “Flying Machine” carousel.
A special poster of “Howl’s Moving Castle” was shared by Studio Ghibli along with their announcement. The poster was designed by Studio Ghibli director Goro Miyazaki, son of studio co-founder Hayao Miyazaki and who most recently directed “Earwig and the Witch” (2020) and executive produced “The Boy and the Heron” (2023).
New ticket tiers: In preparation for the area’s opening, the park also announced three new ticket tiers — Ghibli Park Stroll Ticket, Ghibli Park Big Stroll Ticket and the Ghibli Park Premium Big Stroll Ticket — that will replace the current individual-area ticket scheme. Pricing will start at 1,500 yen ($10) for adults and 750 ($5) for children, according to SoraNews24.
The stroll ticket will come with outdoor access to view four sections in the park except Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse. It also excludes access to any buildings, including shops and restaurants, and the parks’ amusement rides.
The big stroll ticket, which starts at 3,500 yen ($24) for adults and 1,750 yen ($12) for children, will give parkgoers access to all five sections, including Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse, rides shops and restaurants. However, access to buildings in the Valley of Witches, Dondoko Forest and Hill of Youth are not included.
Finally, the premium ticket will give visitors unrestricted access to every attraction and buildings at the park. It starts at 7,300 yen ($50) for adults and 3,650 yen ($25) for children.
When to buy tickets: Fans can start buying tickets for the opening of the Valley of Witches on Jan. 10, 2024. More information can be found on the Ghibli Park website.
