George Takei is Being Accused of Sexually Assaulting an Actor in 1981

Highly-respected actor and LGBT advocate George Takei is the latest celebrity accused of sexual assault in the growing list of scandals involving Hollywood luminaries.
The news comes after several high-profile allegations of sexual assault, harassment, and rape were made against powerful men in Hollywood, like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and most recently, Louis C.K..
The latest accusation is from former model and actor Scott R. Brunton, who claimed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the star, known for his iconic Star Trek role, took advantage of him back in 1981. He was 23 at the time of the alleged incident
“This happened a long time ago, but I have never forgotten it,” Brunton was quoted as saying. “It is one of those stories you tell with a group of people when people are recounting bizarre instances in their lives, this always comes up. I have been telling it for years, but I am suddenly very nervous telling it.”
According to Brunton, he was an aspiring actor in 1981, living in Hollywood and making ends meet as a waiter. He was already starting his career as a commercial actor and model when he met then 43-year-old Takei at Greg’s Blue Dot bar one evening.
Having exchanged contact numbers in their meeting, they would reportedly occasionally call each other and also bump into each other at different clubs. After a break-up with his boyfriend, Brunton said he had a conversation with Takei.
“He said, ‘Let me know what your new number is’ and I did. And not long after we broke up and I moved out, George called me,” Brunton said.
At Takei’s invitation, they went to dinner and later watched theater.
“He was very good at consoling me and understanding that I was upset and still in love with my boyfriend,” Brunton recalled. “He was a great ear. He was very good about me spilling my heart on my sleeve.”
Brunton alleged, however, that he was shocked how their relationship took a turn when they ended up in the actor’s condo to have a drink after having dinner one night.
“The next thing I remember I was coming to and he had my pants down around my ankles and he was groping my crotch and trying to get my underwear off and feeling me up at the same time, trying to get his hands down my underwear,” Brunton continued.
“I came to and said, ‘What are you doing?!’ I said, ‘I don’t want to do this.’ He goes, ‘You need to relax. I am just trying to make you comfortable. Get comfortable.’ And I said, ‘No. I don’t want to do this.’ And I pushed him off and he said, ‘OK, fine.’ And I said I am going to go and he said, ‘If you feel you must. You’re in no condition to drive.’ I said, ‘I don’t care I want to go.’ So I managed to get my pants up and compose myself and I was just shocked. I walked out and went to my car until I felt well enough to drive home, and that was that.”
Takei has recently expressed condemnation on the allegations made against Kevin Spacey, saying “When power is used in a non-consensual situation, it is a wrong.”
Brunton noted that such comments, coming from Takei, has got him deeply frustrated.
“I don’t want anything from him but an apology. I am sure he’ll disown all this, I don’t know, maybe not.”
Sought for comment, a representative for Takei responded with: “George is traveling in Japan and Australia and not reachable for comment.”
Takei has also remained silent in relation to the accusation on his social media accounts.
