Han Seo Hee, the trainee who smoked marijuana with BIGBANG’s T.O.P, has officially received a sentence from her first trial.
The Seoul Central District Court sentenced Han to four years of probation, 120 hours of drug rehabilitation and a fine of ₩870,000 (about $770).
Han may receive a three-year prison sentence if she repeats her offense/s during the probation period.
The court said (via Soompi):
“She purchased psychotropic drugs LSD and marijuana many times and used/smoked them. She even purchased marijuana again while she was being investigated. She has admitted to her crimes and is remorseful. The fact that she does not have a prior criminal record was taken into consideration.”
Han was arrested in March for using marijuana, a substance that remains illegal in South Korea. She reportedly admitted to consuming liquid marijuana through an electronic cigarette on three occasions and cited T.O.P’s name when asked who she was with.
As per Korea Portal, Han started her career when she auditioned for JYP Entertainment in 2011, where she won first place. The following year, she appeared in MBC’s “Birth of a Great Star 3” and eventually trained under Source Music to debut with GFRIEND — which apparently didn’t happen.
Later, she trained under Jellyfish Entertainment and was rumored to debut with Gugudan, which again didn’t pan out.
Police speculated that she started using marijuana “due to the stress of a continuously postponed debut.”
T.O.P, on the other hand, was in critical condition after overdosing on tranquilizers. Kim Han Soo, public relations head of Ewha Womans University Hospital, stated that he was “in a state of deep sleep and semiconsciousness” when admitted on June 6 at 12:34 PM KST.
T.O.P.’s first trial is scheduled on June 29.
