The popular manga/anime “Naruto,” created by Masashi Kishimoto, may have already ended, but its spirit continues to live on inside the heart of many die-hard fans.
As a celebration for the franchise’ 18th year anniversary, many followers of the series posted group events on Facebook called “Naruto Run” that takes place in several locations around the world.
The most recent one happened on August 31 at Michigan State University. According to the post, 166 people sent their RSVPs for the event.
Fans over in Singapore also organized a similar gathering on August 26. It is unclear how many people attended the event, but as stated on its Facebook page, over 600 enthusiasts marked “going” to this year’s “Naruto Run” held at VivoCity in Singapore.
The next “Naruto Run” was scheduled to happen on September 1. Fans who are in Chicago — and those who want to experience the event — can head over to Trump Tower at 7 p.m. Over 5,000 people were expected to show up.
The “Naruto Run” event is an unofficial gathering for fans to socialize, talk about the series, and, of course, participate in the main highlight — the ninja run.
They basically run like Uzumaki Naruto, the main protagonist of the franchise — or any other ninja in the series. People will run from Point A to Point B with their hands outstretched behind their back.
September 21 will mark as the series’ 18th year anniversary since its first publication in 1999. The manga series ended in November 2014, while its anime adaptation concluded on March 23, 2017 with “Naruto Shippuden.”
