Man Arrested For Making Over 1,000 911 Calls Selling Egg Rolls

A man in Memphis has been arrested after offering egg rolls to 911 dispatchers more than 1,000 times.
The suspect, identified as Huu Nguyen, has reportedly been calling 911 since July despite not having an emergency, reports WREG.
Nguyen would hang up after asking dispatchers if they wanted to buy egg rolls, court documents revealed.
Since July 15, Nguyen has made 1,171 calls to 911. On September 1 alone, Nguyen made 241 calls to 911. The day after, he called the emergency hotline 32 times.
Nguyen was brought into custody after Memphis Police found him in a shopping center around Ridgeway and Winchester.
It has not been revealed whether Nguyen was actually selling egg rolls or simply trolling the emergency service hotline.
Calling 911 without an emergency is discouraged as it may overload the 911 system and affect its services intended for those who truly need them. Penalties issued for 911 misuse vary across different states.
In Tennessee, a 911 call “that is for some purpose other than to report an emergency or an event that the person placing the call reasonably believes to be an emergency is a Class C misdemeanor.”
