‘Sakra’: US trailer released for Donnie Yen’s big-budget film adaptation of classic wuxia novel
The official U.S. trailer for Donnie Yen’s big-budget martial arts fantasy “Sakra” was released on Thursday.
Produced by and starring Yen, “Sakra” is an adaptation of the classic wuxia novel “Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils” by Louis Cha.
The film follows the story of Qiao Feng (Yen), a martial arts expert who is wrongly accused of murdering his parents. He embarks on a journey to clear his name, but he soon finds that his quest will put him at odds against the very fabric of the Song Dynasty.
Other cast members include Chen Yuqi (“Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre”), Cya Liu (“Limbo), Wu Yue (“Ip Man 4”), Wong Kwan Hing (“A Fist Within Four Walls”), Du Yuming (Joy of Life”), Lui Leung Wai (“The Bund”) and Tsui Siu Ming (“Kung Fu Jungle”), among others.
To take his film to the next level, Yen brought on his personal martial arts, stunt, costume and creative crews onto the project, as well as action director icons Kenji Tanigaki and Yan Hua.
In addition to “Sakra,” the “Ip Man” star appears in the highly anticipated Chad Stahelski-led film “John Wick 4,” which stars Keanu Reeves.
“Sakra” will be released in U.S. theaters on April 14, while its digital release is slated for April 18. Check out the film’s trailer below.
