Shinzo Abe Struggles to Get Trump’s Attention for Awkward Handshake
By Bryan Ke
United States President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe just shared an awkward encounter while exchanging handshakes in yet another cringeworthy moment.
The awkward interaction occurred during the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan when both Trump and Abe posed together for a photo op, according to CGTN. The latter, however, wanted to take a photo while shaking Trump’s hand, but his attention was apparently glued to something else.
And yes, Abe was left hanging for quite some time as photographers took pictures of this uncomfortable moment. Luckily, the Japanese prime minster was able to get Trump’s attention by casually tapping his side with his waiting hand and giving a signal for the handshake.
In case you’ve forgotten, this isn’t the first time these two have shared a very awkward encounter with this same gesture. In 2017, both Trump and Abe shared a rather uncomfortable handshake when the former held the prime minister’s hand for longer than usual – nearly 20 seconds – and pulling it forcefully.
Abe’s reaction after that excruciatingly long handshake was, without a doubt, PRICELESS!
