‘Wag Ikuwento Si Bruno’: Disney releases Filipino versions of ‘Encanto’ songs
Disney Asia has released Filipino versions of songs from the soundtrack of the 2021 animated musical film “Encanto.”
As part of the long-awaited release of their streaming service Disney Plus in the Philippines on Nov. 17, Disney also posted Filipino versions to six songs from the “Encanto” soundtrack on the Disney Music Asia YouTube channel.
The translated tracks include “Ang Pamilya Madrigal” (“The Family Madrigal”), “Wag Ikuwento Si Bruno” (“We Don’t Talk About Bruno”), “Ano Pang Kaya Ko?” (“What Else Can I Do?”), “Nas’an Ang Milagro Ko” (“Waiting On A Miracle”), “Pag Nagigipit” (“Surface Pressure”) and “Kayo” (“All Of You”).
Disney previously released the film’s soundtrack in Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia.
The Philippines is the fourth Southeast Asian nation in which the streaming platform is available, after Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. Filipino audiences now also have access to Disney’s subsidiary brands, including Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and National Geographic.
In February, a Filipino digital graphic artist went viral for reimagining Filipino versions of the Madrigal sisters from the Disney film. He created live-action character illustrations that take inspiration from Filipino actresses Nadine Lustre and Maine Mendoza and Olympic gold champion Hidilyn Diaz.
