Deborah Chow Picked to Direct Obi-Wan Kenobi Series for Disney+

Deborah Chow, the Asian-Canadian director who directed two episodes of “The Mandalorian”, was recently tapped to direct the live-action Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+.

The announcement was made on Friday by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

“We really wanted to select a director who is able to explore both the quiet determination and rich mystique of Obi-Wan in a way that folds seamlessly into the Star Wars saga,” Kennedy said in a statement. “Based on her phenomenal work developing our characters in ‘The Mandalorian’, I’m absolutely confident Deborah is the right director to tell this story.”

The series will focus on Obi-Wan, a central figure in the “Star Wars” universe. Its story will take place eight years after the events of the 2005 movie “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.”

Aside from being the director, Chow will also executive produce the Disney+ show alongside writer Hossein Amini, Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor, Tracey Seaward, John Swartz, and Kennedy.
