Daniel Dae Kim Donates Plasma to Help Other Patients Survive COVID-19

Actor Daniel Dae Kim is now doing his part to help save the lives of other patients after he successfully recovered from COVID-19.
In an Instagram post, Kim revealed that he donated his plasma in a bid to help someone else fight off the virus with his antibodies.
“Glad to be able to donate in the hopes that the antibodies I’ve built up will help others in their fight against #Covid19,” he wrote as a caption in the post.
Sharing his own battle with the disease, Kim urged his fellow COVID-19 survivors to consider donating their plasma as well.
“If you were sick, but have tested negative and 14 days have passed since you last exhibited symptoms, or you tested positive but have been symptom-free for 28 days, I hope you’ll please consider making a #plasmadonation as well,” he explained.
Since testing positive from the disease, Kim has openly spoken about his experience with COVID-19. According to Kim, he might have caught the novel coronavirus during a shoot in New York for the TV series “New Amsterdam.”
Kim has urged the public to take the pandemic seriously, highlighting the importance of social distancing to avoid infection.
Kim has since been actively donating to causes that benefit frontline health workers.
“I learned about the Mayo Clinic being named the national program for this effort and I wanted to do my part to help those who are still battling the illness,” he said. “I hope those who can will consider joining me to help other Americans in need—either through the Mayo Clinic, Red Cross or their local blood donation center.”
Commenting on the growing incidents of racism and xenophobia towards Asian Americans amid the crisis, he called such acts “cowardly” and “inexcusable.”
“Yes, I’m Asian. And yes, I have coronavirus, but I did not get it in China. I got it in America — in New York City,” he noted. “Despite what certain political leaders want to call it, I don’t consider the place where it’s from as important as the people who are sick and dying.”
