Elderly Woman Gets Plastic Surgery to Look 20 to Escape Creditors

The woman, only identified as Zhu, managed to evade the police for half a year when she altered her looks. Zhu was ordered by the court to pay her debt, but she ultimately disappeared without any trace.

Zhu, who is from Wuhan, Hubei Province owed more than 30 million yuan ($4.39 million), according to Shin Min Daily News via Stomp. Most of the borrowed money was from her days running a clothing store.

It was later discovered that Zhu escaped to Shenzhen in Guangdong Province. She reportedly lived a luxurious life, but upon arrest, she denied and claimed that she was broke and had to rely on her younger sister for financial support.

It turns out that her claims were not true. Police uncovered that Zhu was part of an exclusive club where registered members were required to cash out 200,000 yuan ($29,297) just for the entrance fee alone. Zhu also purchased several cars, but the ownership was transferred to her sister.

Police discovered that Zhu posted several social media photos of herself on an adventure with other exclusive club members. Authorities also found a credit card bill from 2016 that is estimated to be around 3.88 million yuan ($568,361).

Zhu is facing a one year and four months prison sentence for her crime.
