Chinese Vlogger Turns Herself Into The Mona Lisa Using Only Make Up
By Bryan Ke
Meet He Yuhong, a 26-year-old Chinese vlogger who can turn herself into any work of art figure — like Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
Ms. He, who posts most of her work either on Chinese video sharing app Miaopai or the country’s own Twitter, Weibo, only did the Mona Lisa makeup after one fan jokingly suggested to expand her talented transformations not just from Chinese and western celebrities, but to classical work of art as well.
For her first project in classical art transformation, Ms. He decided to go with Mona Lisa.
“Once you see your face as a blank piece of paper, the opportunities are endless,” Ms. He wrote in her imitative series.
And surprisingly, her Mona Lisa imitation project proved to be quite a massive hit. According to Daily Mail, the clip has been viewed more than 800,000 times on Miaopai and over 20 million times on Dou Yin, another social media platform in China.
“The response is just overwhelming,” Ms. He said. “I appreciate all the support I’ve received and I’m so happy that viewers like the transformation.”
But her Da Vinci theme did not stop there just yet, though. After the realizing the massive hit, Ms. He immediately decided continue the pace.
“I love oil paintings myself,” she said, adding, “so, when I saw the great response on the Mona Lisa video, I went on to create ‘Lady with an Ermine’ to continue the Da Vinci theme.”
It takes quite a lot of time to finish a single makeup project. As revealed by the artist, each transformation usually takes about four to six hours.
All the effort she put into her art has certainly paid off as many netizens now dub her as “Master Makeup” and suggesting she should start a class.
