Chinese Netizens Warn Gigi Hadid to Stay Out of China Over ‘Racist’ Instagram Video

The “ghost” of Gigi Hadid’s “racist” Instagram video in which she allegedly mocked Asians has come back to haunt her as she prepares to take part in the upcoming Victoria’s Secret Show 2017 in Shanghai.
After the 22-year-old supermodel revealed her return to the annual catwalk on Instagram, some Asian netizens flooded her posts with comments telling her she is “not welcome” in China.
Hadid announced her participation in the prestigious event via a black and white video of herself wearing lingerie and angel wings on Instagram with the caption: “Forever and ever and ever a dream come true to be asked back to the VS Show !!!”
“Thank you, my friends @ed_razek @10magazine @johndavidpfeiffer @monica.mitro for another unforgettable opportunity; every aspect makes me feel like a dreaming kid again.”
Hadid’s critics reminded her of the infamous video clip posted by her sister Bella where she can be seen squinting her eyes while holding up a Buddha cookie.
The model turned off the comments on her announcement post, but commenters vented out their rants on a separate Instagram photo, dissing her in English, Chinese, and some snake emojis.
As some commenters have pointed out, Gigi has yet to issue an apology over the “racist” video incident.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which will be broadcast on November 28 will also feature new recruits Frida Aasen, Victoria Lee, Vanessa Moody, Nadine Leopold, Bruna Lirio, Gizele Oliveira, Aiden Curtis and Alexina Graham, according to the Evening Standard.
