“Saturday Night Live” star Bowen Yang has made the decision to temporarily step away from his popular podcast “Las Culturistas” to prioritize his mental health.
Mental health break: The Emmy-nominated actor-comedian, who also stars on “Awkwafina is Nora from Queens,” shared in an Instagram Story over the weekend that he is experiencing “bad bouts of depersonalization.”
“Taking a very short break from [Las Culturistas]. Bad bouts of depersonalization are f*cking me up bad, but I am doing my best to get better! Please take care, be soon,” Yang wrote.
Depersonalization disorder: Depersonalization-derealization disorder involves persistent feelings of being disconnected or detached from one’s self. This psychological condition can be treated with talk therapy and sometimes medication.
About the podcast: Yang has co-hosted “Las Culturistas” with longtime collaborator Matt Rogers since its launch in 2016. Released every Wednesday on platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, the popular podcast features pop culture discussions and celebrity guests.
Yang, who has been vocal about his personal life, has also previously discussed how his hectic schedule has affected his mood and energy levels.
On his own Instagram Story, Rogers assured fans of their podcast that it will continue while Yang is on his break.
“For those asking: [Las Culturistas] will continue while Bowen is on break,” Rogers wrote. “Will elaborate a bit more on this week’s episode.”
