Bossy Bear and Turtle inhabit a K-Town-inspired city in new Nickelodeon series from UglyDolls creators
The animated Nickelodeon preschool series “Bossy Bear,” starring Jayden Ham and Jaba Keh, premiered on Monday.
Based on the book series by David Horvath, the show follows Bossy Bear (Ham), an enthusiastic extrovert, and Turtle (Keh), a thoughtful introvert, as they navigate childhood adventures in their Koreatown-inspired city of Pleasantburg. Hovarth and his wife Sun-Min Kim, who are known for creating the UglyDolls brand, collaborated together to bring the characters to life, taking inspiration from their lives in Seoul and Los Angeles.
Rounding out the cast are Claudia Choi, known for “Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse,” and Shaun Baer of “Chicago PD” as Bossy’s parents, while “Deady Class” star Viva Lee plays his older sister, Bissy. Ginger, Bossy’s best friend, is played by Beahlen Deacon, and Ginger’s parents, Tyler the Owl and Greg the Chipmunk, are played by Lance Bass and Michael Turchin.
Hovarth expressed his joy over the series and the opportunity to work with Nickelodeon.
Sun-Min and I were so fortunate to be able to collaborate with the incredible teams at Imagine and Nickelodeon and can’t wait for everyone to experience Bossy Bear. This is the best possible version of what we envisioned with our original books and limited run toys produced so many years ago, and the experience has been a true gift.
The show will air daily on Nickelodeon Monday through Thursday at 11 a.m. ET/PT throughout the month of March. Encores will also air at 5 p.m ET/PT on Nick Jr.
