Blackpink and Lady Gaga have been invited to perform at the White House state dinner for U.S. President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol.
Yoon will make a state visit to the U.S. on April 26. The state dinner will begin with an opening ceremony, where the pop star acts may perform if they accept the invitation.
Lady Gaga and Blackpink previously collaborated on the 2020 track “Sour Candy” for Gaga’s album “Chromatica.”
A spokesperson with Blackpink’s agency, YG Entertainment, confirmed the invitation to Korea JoongAng Daily on Tuesday: “We have received the offer and are discussing the matter.”
Yoon’s office has declined to comment on the matter, saying that no decision has been made yet regarding the event.
Blackpink’s “Born Pink” world tour may present an obstacle to the White House invitation, as they are scheduled to perform in Mexico on April 26. They are currently completing the Asia circuit of their global concert series before then heading to Australia and New Zealand.
Next month, Blackpink will make history as Coachella’s first K-pop headlining act.
The end of this month will see eldest Blackpink member Jisoo become the last of the four members to make her solo debut, the single album “ME” led by the title track “Flower.”
