K-pop girl group BLACKPINK have finally dropped their long-awaited second album “Born Pink” and the music video for the title track “Shut Down.”
“Shut Down” utilizes a sample of the violin solo “La campanella” by Italian composer Niccolò Paganini. The song’s music video, which YG Entertainment has called their most expensive one to date, is packed with references to BLACKPINK’s past music videos.
Netizens have been quick to try and find all of them, with some examples being Rosé sitting on a globe like in “Whistle” and Jennie’s bedazzled tank, Jisoo’s umbrella scene and Lisa’s katana from “DDU-DU DDU-DU.”

In addition to the title track, BLACKPINK’s sophomore album includes the prereleases “Pink Venom” and “Ready For Love” and newcomers “Typa Girl,” “Hard to Love,” “The Happiest Girl,” “Tally” and “Yeah Yeah Yeah,” with the last track notably crediting members Jisoo and Rosé.
According to a tweet posted by K-pop journalist Jeff Benjamin, “Shut Down” and “The Happiest Girl” will be the focus of the group’s U.S. promotions. All four group members are currently in Los Angeles and recently visited their Spotify “Born Pink” pop-up store.

Absent from the newest album are the songs Jennie and Rosé reportedly recorded in Los Angeles with OneRepublic lead vocalist Ryan Tedder. Additionally, the alleged leak of Rosé’s remix of Bella Poarch’s “Build A B*tch” was left on the cutting room floor.
Coinciding with BLACKPINK’s comeback is their upcoming world tour, which will start next month in Seoul. The tour will span seven months in over 25 cities around the world, including several stops in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. YG Entertainment has claimed that the upcoming tour will be “the largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group.” They have recently added additional shows to Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and Los Angeles after quickly selling out during their presale and general sale rounds.
