A real-life “Crazy Rich Asian” couple from Malaysia recently held a lavish baby shower that had guests guessing the baby’s gender using designer handbags.
Berjaya Times Square CEO Chryseis Tan and her husband, Naza scion SM Faliq Nasimuddin, celebrated their baby’s impending arrival at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Kuala Lumpur.
The pastel-themed event included a gender reveal party in which guests participated in a guessing game featuring recently released Gucci handbags that cost around $1,300 each, Malay Mail reports.
Guests were told to place their guesses for the gender of the baby in the luxury brand’s latest GG Marmont small shoulder bags, blue for a baby boy and pink for a baby girl.
Sharing images from the event on Instagram, Tan also revealed the infant’s gender to the public.
“Yes, it’s baby Chrys! To the 98 per cent of my family and friends who guessed it was a baby boy, sorry to disappoint you all but mummy and daddy can’t wait to meet our baby girl,” the 31-year-old socialite wrote.
Tan also shared a video clip showing her father Vincent, mother Puan Sri Esther Tan and mother-in-law Puan Sri Zaleha Ismail popping balloons in the grand gender reveal.
Faliq, the son of the late Malaysian tycoon Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin, married Tan in 2018 at The Chateau in Pahang.
The expectant parents are set to welcome their baby daughter at the end of June or early July.
