‘F***ing Asians, go back to China!’: Man wanted for punching elderly woman, throwing Chinese food at her husband in NYC

New York City police are looking for a man accused of attacking an elderly Asian couple while making anti-Asian statements over the weekend.
What happened: The incident occurred in front of 230 W. 54th St. near Broadway in Midtown at 6:35 p.m. on Sunday. Police said the suspect first engaged the Asian woman, 63, in a verbal dispute, according to PIX 11.
- The suspect then allegedly punched the woman in the face and shoved her to the ground. Afterward, he allegedly poured Chinese food on her 60-year-old husband, according to the New York Post.
- Before assaulting the woman, the suspect allegedly yelled “F***ing Asians, go back to China,” according to the New York Daily News. The victim suffered from back pain due to the assault but refused medical attention.
About the suspect: The suspect left the scene on a bicycle southbound on Broadway. Authorities believe he is homeless.
- On Monday night, police released a witness video showing the unidentified suspect after the alleged attack. He is seen carrying a backpack and wearing dark-colored clothes, including a T-shirt with the words “Buffalo Wild Wings.”
- The incident is being investigated as a hate crime. No arrests had been made as of Wednesday.
New York police are offering a $3,500 reward for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest. Tipsters are urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS or message their Twitter account.
