Asian Australian Family Harassed by Racist Woman Calling Their Children ‘Rats’

An Asian Australian family was harassed by a racist woman shouting expletives on Friday at the Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre in Perth.
The young couple, their 3-year-old son, and 4-month-old baby were grocery shopping at Woolworths Supermarkets when they were stopped outside by a woman who began shouting at the entire family.
“I’m born here! You’re not. And all you do is breed these things … rats,” she raised her voice as she pointed to the children.
Despite there being several onlookers, no one appeared to intervene as the woman continued saying, “And then you want to take our country over.”
The video cuts out as the racist woman shouts “F**k you…” and lunges at the person recording the footage.
“We were doing grocery at Woolies carousel last night and had a very unpleasant episode. I’m so sad our little kids had to experience this, especially the 3-year-old was shocked,” the mother of the children Rita Wang wrote on Facebook after the shocking incident.
“I waited outside woolies with our 4-month-old baby in the pram while my hubby and our 3-year-old were paying at the checkout.”
According to Wang, the woman’s racist tirade was initially targeted at two security guards who were Black and Middle Eastern but turned on her family when Wang attempted to defend the men.
“This woman suddenly had a go at an African security guard really just out of the blue, then quickly she turned her fire to a Middle East looking security guard, asking him to ‘get out of this country, you don’t belong here,’” she wrote.
“I was next to the guy and thought she was rude, so I said to this woman ‘please leave this gentleman alone.’ She then starts yelling at us: ‘you bloody Asians shouldn’t be here either, you get out of this country.’”
The incident has reportedly left Wang’s 3-year-old son “shocked and terrified.”
Wang thanked the Woolies staff members who walked the family to their car and offered to be present as witnesses should they decide to report the incident to the police.
“Well, we work hard and we pay tax, we serve in community service and we are kind to anyone we meet (regardless of their race),” Wang wrote.
“Shouldn’t we love one another and live in harmony? Shouldn’t we pay great respect to the aboriginal people who are the true owners of this land?”
The Wang family has not yet stated whether they will take the incident to the police and pursue pressing charges. Meanwhile, the identity of the racist woman remains unknown.
