Ashley Park honored with IMDb ‘Breakout Star’ Starmeter Award
Actor Ashley Park has been honored with the IMDb “Breakout Star” Starmeter Award.
The award is determined by IMDbPro data, analyzing the page views of over 200 million monthly visitors worldwide.
Park’s popularity has increased on the site’s Starmeter due to her role as Mindy in Netflix’s “Emily in Paris” and as the lead of Adele Lim’s upcoming directorial debut feature “Joy Ride.”
Park expressed her gratitude for the honor and encouraged other actors to continue to pursue their ambitions.
My early experiences on camera I first fell in love with all aspects of storytelling. I never even imagined a place for myself on screen until then. My best advice for emerging actors is to use IMDb and IMDbPro to explore how other actors you respect began their careers and which professionals helped them navigate the industry when they got started.
Park also acknowledged the Asian actors and filmmakers who inspire her, including Sandra Oh, Steven Yeun, Lucy Liu, Michelle Yeoh, Julie Oh, Bong Joon Ho, Daniel Dae Kim and Jon M. Chu. She mentioned recent titles that have resonated with her, such as “Parasite,” “Minari” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”
Previous recipients of the IMDb “Breakout Star” Starmeter Award include Ayo Edebiri, Emma D’Arcy, Regé-Jean Page, Simone Ashley and Nicholas Braun.
Aside from “Emily in Paris” and “Joy Ride,” Park has added a few other notable roles to her filmography. She stars in the Ali Wong- and Steven Yeun-led Netflix series “Beef,” is in the English voice cast for “Star Wars: Visions” Season 2 and will appear in Season 3 of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building.”
