Ash Ketchum finally won his first championship trophy in “Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon – Ultra Legends.”
The celebratory moment happened on the show’s 1,080th episode titled “The Rise of Alola’s Champion” where Ash, the forever 10-year-old lead character of the “Pokémon” franchise, won the Alola League, according to The Wrap.
It took Ash 22 years of hard work, countless battles and over 1,000 episodes before he attained his dream of becoming a Pokémon master.
During the finals of the tournament, Ash faced Gladion, a rival trainer whom he encountered multiple times in “Sun and Moon.” Both trainers used the Rock-type Pokémon Lycanroc, but the former’s monster came out as the victor in the battle.
The historic moment was celebrated online by many fans of the franchise who have been there to support Ash since the first series aired in the late 1990s.
Ash’s former voice actress, Veronica Taylor, also celebrated the character’s victory, Gizmodo reported.
