Arden Cho, original Cabbage Merchant join cast of live-action ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’

Arden Cho has reportedly joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
According to the fan page Avatar News, Cho will be playing June the bounty hunter in the Netflix adaptation. June was first introduced towards the end of Season 1 of the original Nickelodeon series as a tracker hired by Zuko to hunt down Aang using Katara’s necklace. With the help of her shirshu, June uses her impeccable tracking skills to capture any target she’s assigned.
Cho is the latest addition to the cast, which has for the most part left fans optimistic about its accurate representation, contrary to the disastrous 2010 live-action movie adaptation by M. Night Shyamalan. The film was criticized for whitewashing the characters, who were mostly inspired by Asian and indigenous ethnic groups.
Last week, Avatar News also reported that James Sie, the original voice of the fan-favorite Cabbage Merchant, will be reprising the role for the live-action series.
While Avatar News has no official ties to Netflix or the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” franchise, the fan-page has maintained a large following due to its track record of credible news surrounding the “Avatar” universe. It was the first to leak information on the main cast for the live-action adaptation, which went viral in August 2021 before official sources could confirm it.
Both Cho and Sie have been added to the cast list of the show’s IMDb page, joining Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio Tarbell, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Daniel Dae Kim, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Lim Kay Siu, Ken Leung and others announced to appear in the show.
Known for playing Kira Yukimura in MTV’s “Teen Wolf,” Cho’s latest lead role is for Netflix’s “Partner Track” which is set for release on Aug. 26.
