Gamer finds secret room with modern technology in ‘Pokemon Legends: Arceus’
An unused modern-day room has been discovered in the Nintendo Switch game “Pokémon Legends: Arceus” by a video game researcher and hacker.
Hacker @DeepGameRes originally discovered the room when he was flying into a skybox in the game’s “free camera” mode, according to Kotaku. A clip of the room was shared on YouTube by @Faz Faz on Feb. 9.
The hacker clarified on his Twitter account that the room is not accessible through the game’s available playable maps.
“It’s actually a part of a separate map that is not normally accessible,” he wrote. “I found this map when looking through the game files and found textures that looked modern. After finding which area they belonged to and a good 8-ish hours of trying various hacky things that I’ve learned over the years, I finally force loaded the map in-game.”
“This modern room is just a small part of a much much larger unused area. Which I will be covering in my own video about it as soon as I have the time to sit down and edit it,” he added.
With the latest Pokémon set in the ancient Hisui region, the room containing modern technology is an anachronism not seen elsewhere in the game.
The YouTube video of the newly discovered room shows it has a bed, a flat-screen TV, a laptop and a Pikachu and Eevee edition of the Nintendo Switch. It also shows how the player can walk right through the furniture, which likely indicates that the room was not meant to be discovered.
Pokémon fans are discussing whether the room may be a hint to the possibility of future downloadable content or if it might be what remains of a deleted introduction in the game, according to IGN.
