British Japanese actor Andrew Koji has been tapped to play Storm Shadow in the third “G.I. Joe” spin-off movie “Snake Eyes.”
The 32-year-old actor will take the role of Thomas “Tommy” Arashikage, a Japanese American member of the U.S. Army special operations unit who would later be known as Storm Shadow, according to The Wrap.
Storm Shadow is a prominent member of Arashikage Clan, a clan of ninjas that developed a reputation for being able to perform impossible tasks. He was the next in line to take up leadership in the clan after his uncles, Hard Master and Soft Master.
“Snake Eyes” follows the titular character, played by Henry Golding, and his journey to becoming a member of the shadowy assassination group.
It also tells the story of how Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, who both started as friends, ended up being on the opposing side of the conflict between the G.I. Joe and the terrorist organization COBRA.
Before Koji, the role was played by Korean actor Byung-hun Lee in the first and second movies “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” respectively.
Koji currently stars as Ah Sahm in HBO’s “Warriors.” He is known for his other TV roles in “The Wrong Mans,” “Call the Midwife” and “The Innocents.”
