A 32-year-old Singaporean man has been reunited with his biological parents in China 28 years after he was abducted as a child.
Heartfelt reunion: Kai Ye was accompanied by his wife on his trip to Chengdu, China, to finally see his parents again.
A Weibo video of the reunion shows him being hugged by his sobbing mother while his father stands beside them fighting back tears.
The heartfelt reunion, which has gone viral on Chinese social media, happened just in time for the Mid-Autumn Festival on Sept. 29.
About the abduction: Kai Ye was purportedly abducted at a wet market. He told local news outlets that he was taken to Guandong province before being trafficked to Singapore.
How he found his family: In 2021, Kai Ye asked the Baobei Huijia Volunteer Association to help him reunite with his biological parents. The charity is known for helping people find their biological families.
In July, Kai Ye’s biological mother reportedly encountered a video of him stating that he wanted to reunite with his biological family. She had a feeling he could be her missing son and reached out to a volunteer of the Baobei Huijia Volunteer Association. After they took a DNA test and confirmed a match, Kai Ye started making plans to finally see his biological parents again.
