2NE1’s Sandara Park makes music comeback after 6-year hiatus

K-pop sensation Sandara Park has made her return to the music scene with the release of a new mini-album, marking her first solo endeavor in six years.
About the release: The album, titled “Sandara Park,” comes after the disbandment of her former group 2NE1 in 2017. It includes five songs and is led by the title track “Festival.”
Park co-wrote “Festival” alongside GRAY, Heize and SJWA, who all receive production or writing credits on the B-sides “Dara Dara,” “T Map” and “Happy Ending,” respectively. “Festival” also samples a 1995 song of the same name by Uhm Jung-hwa, who makes an appearance in Park’s music video.
Past and future: After 14 years with YG Entertainment, Park signed with a new agency, Abyss Company, in 2021. The new album is her first official release under Abyss, who also houses K-pop acts Sunmi and GOT7’s BamBam.
