2nd annual Gold House Gala to honor Ke Huy Quan, Sandra Oh, Iman Vellani
Ke Huy Quan, Sandra Oh and Iman Vellani are to be recognized at the second annual Gold House Gala in May.
Quan — who recently won the Academy Award for best supporting actor — will receive the leading man award, Oh will be honored with the SeeHer award, and Vellani, star of Marvel’s “Ms. Marvel,” will receive the inaugural new gold award.
Other honorees include the cast of A24’s Academy Award winning film, “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” They will receive the Gold Icon Award, with Quan, Oscar-nominee Stephanie Hsu, Harry Shum Jr. and producer Jonathan Wang, accepting the award.
Additionally, this year’s gala will serve as a reunion for the cast of “The Joy Luck Club.”
The inaugural Gold Generation Award will be given to Aca demy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) president Janet Yang, who served as an executive producer of the 1993 seminal film. Actors Ming-Na Wen, Rosalind Chao, Lauren Tom, Tamlyn Tomita and Lisa Lu are expected to attend. Much of the cast are slated to reprise their roles in a sequel movie in development.
Panda Express co-founders and co-CEOS Andrew Cherng and Peggy Cherng, East West Bank CEO Dominic Ng and singer Lea Salonga will be bestowed The Gold Legend Award. Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria, author and trans rights activist Geena Rocero and Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Radhika Jones are also award recipients. Eva Longoria will receive the Gold Ally Award.
Daniel Dae Kim, the cast of Adele Lim’s directorial debut “Joy Ride,” Tan France, Awkwafina, Eugene Lee Yang and Jeannie Mai Jenkins have been named as presenters for the night.
“The Gold Gala is a definitive convening, climax, and reset for the Asian Pacific community: celebrating our most indelible achievements of the last year and heralding the next wave of the Asian Pacific movement,” said Gold House CEO Bing Chen and COO Jeremy Tran in a statement. “Just as we first honored Michelle Yeoh and the ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ team ahead of their history-making run at the inaugural Gold Gala last year, so, too, will we be honoring and launching the individuals and initiatives that will define the next 12 months across industries.”
